The tragic death of Halyna Hutchins on the film set of Alec Baldwin’s Western “Rust” has most people in Hollywood re-evaluating a lot of things.
It’s still incomprehensible to think Baldwin would point a gun at a human being on a set, and he was handed a gun with live ammo in the first place.
Johnson’s new film that also stars Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot called “Red Notice” launches on Netflix November 12. This film has tons of guns and shooting in it. But he told Variety things are going to change going forward.
“First of all, I was heartbroken. We lost a life. My heart goes out to her family and everybody on set. I’ve known Alec, too, for a very long time.”
The Rock continued, and described what he’s going to be doin on his film sets. “We’re going to switch over to rubber guns, and we’re going to take care of it in post. We’re not going to worry about the dollars; we won’t worry about what it costs.”
Johnson is a true Hollywood powerhouse, both on the big screen and on the business side, and there’s a good chance that his endorsement and commitment to not have real guns on the set could inspire other film makers to do the same.
