Life does not suck for the Walton, Mars, or Koch families, as these three clans have held on to their vice-like grip on the list of the wealthiest families in the world. Heck, the Waltons are giving away millions of dollars, and they still haven’t budged from the top spot.

The Walton’s can thank patriarch Sam Walton for their charmed lives. He, of course, is the founder of Walmart, and his family tree has cranked out multiple branches of billionaires.

The Waltons are the living epitome of “spreading the wealth” because while the family is the richest, the combined fortunes of all of them don’t touch Elon Musk’s $290.3 billion, according to Forbes.

However, the family is collectively richer than Jeff Bezos, if that’s any consolation.

Sam Walton opened the first Walmart store back in 1962.  The three generations that have followed him are sure thankful he did.

The Mars family is worth a collective total of $141.9 billion.  This five-generation family got rich from candy. Frank Mars launched Mars over 100 years ago, and since then, the company has created staples like Snickers, M&Ms, and Twix bars.

Fun Fact about the Mars family- more than half the company’s revenue now comes from pet-care products.

Third on the list is the Koch family, who struck it rich by striking oil.  They are worth $124.4 billion
