Snapchat launched their Tik Tok competitor Spotlight  app late in 2020, and they wasted no time going right after the company they wanted to beat.

They had a strategy to build hype, attention and user numbers for the short-forms video platform, and that strategy is something that could literally make you rich…

Snapchat has been paying out from a daily pool of $1 million to the creators of the videos that performed the best each day, and they are making millionaires in the process.

It’s a simple formula; if a video gets the most views, the creator of it is going to get paid.  It was developed to go right at Tik Tok and help garner more Snap get users and keep them.

It’s working.  Spotlight has already eclipsed 100 million monthly active users and they’ve only been around since November, and getting over 175,000 video submissions every day.

The tech company is putting their money where their mouth is too, as they’ve paid out over $115 million to the top producers, and in the process elevating creative young users of theirs into much higher tax brackets.

The payoff incentive promotion is literally responsible for bringing millions of creators back to Snapchat, and it has been such a success that they have now launched the cash incentive promotion in India, Mexico and Brazil, offering creators a chance to take a dip in that same $1 million daily pool.

A story on CNBC highlighted a couple of the top earners from the platform. One is 22-year old Evan Alberto, (@evanthecardguy) a magician who posts up to 40 videos a day.

When he received his first check from Snapchat he thought it was a mistake. It was for $94,000, and he should crack the $1 million mark this month.

Sarah Callahan posts 10 to 50 videos each day, focusing on meme and fitness content. She’s collected over $1.63 million since November.  Not bad for an out of work actress courtesy of the pandemic

Spotlight stands out because of the size of their cash payments. Tik Tok pays roughly 4 cents for 1,000 views, so it’s a no-brainer for the most creative and money motivated to turn video posting into a full-time job.

Joey Rogoff is a 21-year old newly minted millionaire, courtesy of Spotlight. He’s make over $1.7 million in five months and his account only has 28,000 subscribers.

It’s not too late to try to cash in.
