In a perfect world, the CDC would make a recommendation on wearing facemarks as the pandemic is winding down and it would be simple, easy to follow, and not convoluted.

We don’t live in a perfect world.

Thursday the announcement came that in most cases vaccinated people do not need to mask up indoors or outdoors any more.

Some individual states are lifting their mask orders for residents, but the problem is individual businesses, retailers, cities and states can make their own rules. Yeah, in some cases it really seems like they are making them up as they go, but here’s a few things to keep in mind regarding where you are still required to wear masks.

If you plan on shopping at Macy’s or Target, bring a mask, because they are still requiring them for all shoppers and employees in their stores.

Same thing with Starbucks.

Kroger is one of the biggest grocery store chains in the country with almost 3,000 stories around the U.S., and yes, you need to continue to wear a mask when shopping there.

Here’s some big box retailers who are saying they are currently “re-evaluating” the situation at their store locations.  As of now, they have not said it’s okay to not wear a mask.

  • Walmart
  • CVS
  • Walgreens
  • Home Depot

If you are looking for a place to go where you will not have to wear a mask, nobody is going to make you feel like a terrorist if you don’t have one on, and you can literally show your face in public, indoors, for the first time in over a year, Wynn Las Vegas said if you got the shot, you do not need to wear a facemark anywhere in their casinos.

Oh, let me remind you of something though. They are till required on all public transportation, including airplanes, busses and trains, as well as Uber and Lyft, so make sure you take some with you if you are heading to Vegas!
