Michael Strahan knows a thing or two about flying. He’s on a plane every week through the fall and winter, shuffling between New York City, where he helps host ABC’s Good Morning America, and Los Angeles, where he helps host the NFL pregame show for Fox.
The former NFL star wants to take it to another level though next month. He’s signed on to be a passenger on the Blue Origin flight scheduled for liftoff on December 9.
Joining him on the journey to the edge of space will be Laura Shepard Churchley, the eldest daughter of astronaut Alan Shephard.
Fun fact alert; Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket is named after Churchley’s dad, the fifth person to walk on the moon.
This will be the third Blue Origin flight which goes about 62 miles, and based on the length of the previous two flights, this one should last roughly 11 minutes or so.
Strahan said he was all in when asked if he wanted to go and has been training for it for the past two weeks.
Strahan and Churchley will be flying with several rando rich people who are paying for their chance to become space cadets for a day.
Jeff Bezos was the original celebrity to fly on the very first Blue Origin space flight, which makes sense since he owns the company. William Shatner was the big name on flight #2.
