It’s a tried-and-true attention magnet: A political candidate caught on video in a compromising position.

This one has a twist, though, because the candidate is OK with everyone knowing.

In New York City, Zack Weiner, 26, is seeking a position on the city council in Manhattan. His added challenge: convincing his potential constituents that he’s a fine choice despite his life choices.

Namely, he’s an unapologetic participant in the BDSM (Bondage, Discipline, Sadism and Masochism) world, a fact underscored by his campaign team leaking the video to the New York Post.

“I am a proud BDSMer,” Weiner told The Post. “I like BDSM activity,”

On the subject of exploration, the candidate’s father, Eric Weiner, is a co-creator of the children’s TV show “Dora the Explorer.”

The images video of Zack Weiner – during a session – hit Twitter first.

“My magnificent domme friend played with Upper West Side city council candidate Zack Weiner and I’m the only one who has the footage,” tweeted an anonymous account last week.

Weiner, who said the video was shot a year and a half ago, is gagged and unable to speak.

He told the Post the leather-clad woman with him is a former girlfriend. She proceeds to physically abuse him (including pouring wax on him), with the requisite clamping of his nipples via clothespins.

At least the production quality didn’t suffer, given the footage was recorded at Parthenon studio in Midtown — a spot recognized for high-quality BDSM dungeons, according to the Post.

“I didn’t want anyone to see that, but here we are,” Weiner said in a statement published by the Post. “I am not ashamed of the private video circulating of me on Twitter. This was a recreational activity that I did with my friend at the time, for fun.”
