If you picked this daily double to replace Alex Trebek as the permanent hosts of Jeopardy, you deserve a big prize.

After months of speculation, tryouts, and open begging by pathetic guest hosts who felt they were worthy of replacing a legend, Sony Pictures Television has picked the chosen two.

It’s Big Bang Theory star Mayim Bialik and former EP of the show Mike Richards who will pair up to replace Trebek.

Sounds complicated.  Two hosts for a show that only needs one?  Here’s how it will work.

Beginning with season 38, Richards will be the full-time host of the daily syndicated show.  Bialik gets the gig for the prime-time and spin-off series.  She will also host Jeopardy! National College Championship.

So, in essence, Richards is really the one replacing the legend, because he’ll be on the daily show.

Here’s a quote from Ravi Ahuja, chairman of corporate development for Sony Pictures.

“We knew early on that we wanted to divide the hosting responsibilities and it became very clear that Mike and Mayim were the undeniable choices. They were both at the top of our research and analysis. Mike is a unique talent, at ease behind the podium and a double threat as producer and host. Mayim has a wonderful energy, an innate sense of the game.”

Richards has been rumored for the last few weeks to be the man.  Here is his reaction.

“I am deeply honored to have the opportunity to host the syndicated version of Jeopardy!. Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined being chosen to step into a role of this magnitude. I am incredibly humbled to step behind the lectern and will work tirelessly to make sure our brilliant contestants shine in each and every episode. Alex believed the game itself and the contestants are the most important aspects of the show.”
