Hip-hop icon Sean Combs—he of the net worth north of $900 million and unparalleled accomplishments—hasn’t lost his party touch.
Combs, known professionally as Diddy, made sure his mother had an 80th birthday celebration to remember with a shower of gifts and a tasty check for $1 million.
The 51-year-old star took to Instagram to write her a touching tribute. “I only exist because of this beautiful, hardworking, loving, hilarious, ass-whooping, always telling me the truth, genuine, smart, fly, absolutely amazing Black Goddess Queen!!” he wrote.
“Happy 80th Birthday to the best mother in the world! Love you forever and ever! … and this is actually her at 80 … no filter … no edit !!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY #MAMACOMBS.”
Janice Combs’ party on Monday included a dinner with her son and grandchildren, who contributed to the festivities.
The music mogul’s son, Justin, gave grandma, a.k.a. “Mimi,” a diamond necklace that includes the moniker. His twins, Jessie and D’Lila, 14, share the Dec. 21 birthday with their grandmother.
Diddy’s massive empire includes the Sean John brand, his music company Bad Boy and an epic library of multiplatinum music.
Lest his fans think the million-dollar check was somewhat impersonal, Diddy also delivered a Bentley. “I can’t believe this,” Janice said in a PageSix story.
Janice’s abilities as a driver won’t be a problem. “A very important add-on to the gift: a driver comes with it. You ain’t gotta worry about it. You can just tell him your destination. It’s your favorite color,” Diddy said.
He added to his Instagram story with more kindness, writing, “Yo, now that’s—that’s my hero right there. Ain’t nobody like your mama. I give all thanks and glory to God to my mother.”
