Oklahoma, take a bow. You are the only state in the U.S. where a gas pump’s price reading doesn’t start with a 3. Or 4. Or even 5.

The average price for a gallon of gas is holding strong at $2.99 in Oklahoma, which makes it the only state in America where you can find a gallon of fuel for under three dollars.

Oh, and the head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy told Fox Business that it’s not an anomaly in Oklahoma – prices there might actually go down in the next few weeks.

Whatever Oklahoma is doing, it would be nice if other states take notes.  The average cost of a gallon of gas is 42 cents higher nationally at $3.42.   And in California, the average, yes, the average price of a gallon of gas is $4.69.

Do the math:  Say your gas tank is 15 gallons, and you fill it five times per month.

In Oklahoma it will cost you:

$44.85 per fill-up

$224.25 per month

$2,691 per year

Average U.S. cost:

 $51.15 per fill-up

$255.75 per month

$3,069 per year

In California:

$70.35 per fill-up

$351.75 per month

$4,221 per year

One year ago the average price of a gallon of gas in the U.S. was $2.12.

Congress has been putting pressure on Joe Biden to start using some of the nation’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve, which stores about 620 million barrels of oil.

You may have come to this conclusion by yourself, but AAA says American’s are driving less these days.
