It’s the most exclusive club on the planet—only 2,668 billion members, with a combined net worth of $12.7 trillion.

It’s the billionaire’s club, and Forbes updated their list with all kinds of interesting info about it.

For one thing, it’s not easy to stay on the list. 29 billionaires from a year ago are no longer on it, including 169 one-year wonders who made their debut in 2021 and are nowhere to be seen.  (We’re talking to you, Witney Wolfe Herd of Bumble, and John Foley, the disgraced CEO of Peloton, who might be asking family and friends for handouts this year after running his company into the ground).

The 236 newbies in 2022 include pop star, turned clothing and makeup icon, Rihanna.  Venture capitalist Josh Kushner is in, and so is the director of Lord of the Rings, Peter Jackson.

Congrats to Estonia and Uruguay, who minted their first billionaires this past year.

86 members are under the age of 40, including Melanie Perkins, the co-founder of Canva, and 12 members have yet to reach 30.

What about the crypto space?  Yeah, 19 billionaires got rich from crypto or blockchain technology.

The United States has the most billionaires – 735 total, 11 more than last year. There are 607 billionaires from China, 166 in India, and 134 in Germany.

327 women are billionaires, 101 of them being self-made.

Individually, the usual cast of characters is at the top of the list, headed by Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Bernard Arnault & family.
