Some people thought it would never happen, but it looks like the highest-paid federal employee will finally retire from the job he has held since 1984.  Anthony Fauci, the masked bearer of bad news who seemed to relish his time in the spotlight during the pandemic, said he is retiring after Joe Biden’s term as president, meaning he won’t walk away from his cushy gig until he’s 84.

Politico reported the story first about the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease finally leaving after serving for seven presidents.

Fauci has been cashing federal government paychecks for an astounding 50-plus years. Over a half-century working in a governmental position.

Most people had no clue who the elderly gentleman was prior to the COVID crisis, but he spent the better part of a year and a half talking on network and cable television programs, delivering his dark and pessimistic messages. He became incredibly divisive as a political figure with his hard-line stances on mask-wearing and lockdown policies.

Fauci has attained a net worth of roughly $8 million despite never working in the public sector, and he almost certainly will be writing a book about his career that will keep him in the spotlight well after he wears his final facemask in his current job.
