If there’s a problem in the world, Elon Musk generally has a business to solve it or an idea to address it.

Here’s his latest thought that, of course, turned Twitter upside down for a spell.  Regarding the energy shortage Europe will be facing because Russia invaded Ukraine, Musk tweeted that it would make sense for Europe to generate more nuclear power.  In essence, restart nuclear power plants that are not being used.

The Tweet has been retweeted tens of thousands of times, and of course, there are a lot of differing opinions.

Jim Osman, the founder of the Edge Consulting Group, said, “Until one is mismanaged again and leaks everywhere. That’s the risk of more.”

Osman learned the hard way that you position yourself for embarrassment when you publicly challenge Musk, and the Tesla and SpaceX CEO followed that with this reply.

“For those who (mistakenly) think this is a radiation risk, pick what you think is the worst location. I will travel there & eat locally grown food on TV. I did this in Japan many years ago, shortly after Fukushima. Radiation risk is much, much lower than most people believe.”

Musk runs a battery-operated car company, yet in the past week, he’s called for more nuclear energy, and he also endorsed a plan for the US to increase our own oil and gas output now that we can’t rely on Russian oil.

Here’s what Musk tweeted on Friday.

“Hate to say it, but we need to increase oil & gas output immediately, Extraordinary times demand extraordinary measures.”

One thing you can’t argue with Musk is that we are living in extraordinary times. However, his haters would probably try to.
