Did anyone think Hunter Biden would have this much impact leading up to the election on November 3? The fallout continues from the blockbuster report in the New York Post Wednesday about Joe Biden’s son’s involvement in a scandal involving his board seat on a Ukranian company and his father’s role in Hunter’s business dealings. The information came from emails recovered from an old laptop computer belonging to Hunter that he had dropped off for repairs.

Later Wednesday, Twitter refused to allow posts about the NY Post story and even locked out the newspaper’s official Twitter account. Thursday we learned some Republican senators are furious about the actions of both Twitter and Facebook and want answers. “This is election interference and we’re 19 days out from an election,” said Ted Cruz, R-Texas. “It has no precedent in the history of democracy. The Senate Judiciary Committee wants to know what the hell is going on.”

We might find out soon. The Senate Judiciary Committee leaders announced they will vote on a subpoena on Tuesday for Jack Dorsey, the CEO of Twitter, to testify before the committee on Friday, October 23rd.  Leaders are hoping to bring Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg to answer questions, too.  “We believe in a free press in this country and we also believe in free elections,” Josh Hawley, R-Mo., said. “The attempt to rig an election, which is what we’re seeing here by monopolies, is unprecedented in American history. They have a lot to answer for.”

The Senators are angered about what they think is a double standard within social media, saying Twitter did nothing to censor reporting on the Steele dossier that was damaging to President Trump or the Russia collusion allegations. Not surprisingly, Trump weighed in on the matter via Twitter. “So terrible that Facebook and Twitter took down the story of “Smoking Gun” emails related to Sleepy Joe Biden and his son, Hunter, in the @NYPost. It is only the beginning for them. There is nothing worse than a corrupt politician. REPEAL SECTION 230!!!”
