General Colin Powell Dies of COVID Complications Despite Being Fully Vaxxed. He Served For Republican Presidents But Endorsed Biden In 2020.

General Colin Powell died Monday of COVID complications at the age of 84  

He was a very powerful military leader for decades, and served as both Secretary of State and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff during his storied career. 

Here’s what his family said in a statement. 

“We have lost a remarkable and loving husband, father, grandfather and a great American,” his family said in a statement, adding that he was fully vaccinated. We want to thank the medical staff at Walter Reed National Medical Center for their caring treatment.”

Powell served in George W. Bush’s cabinet and was a key leader right after 9-11. 

He was awarded the Purple Heart  and the Bronze Star for his tours of duty in Vietnam. 

Here’s what former President George W. Bush said in a statement of his own. 

“Laura and I are deeply saddened by the death of Colin Powell.He was highly respected at home and abroad. And most important, Colin was a family man and a friend. Laura and I send Alma and their children our sincere condolences as they remember the life of a great man.”

Former Vice President Dick Cheney worked closely with Powell, and said this in his statement. 

“General Powell had a remarkably distinguished career, and I was fortunate to work with him. He was a man who loved his country and served her long and well.”

In 2020, during the Democratic National Convention, Powell spoke and gave a full endorsement for Joe Biden.
