Monday is a rough day for travelers, especially on the East Coast.

More than 5,000 flights have been canceled or delayed, thanks to a big-time Winter storm wreaking havoc on big cities, including Washington, D.C.

For holiday travelers who waited a few extra days before heading home, they woke up to a nightmare scenario if they were heading to the Midwest or anywhere East of that.  Both Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport had to issue ground stops.

And when Mother Nature lays the smackdown like she is doing on Monday, it doesn’t matter how powerful or wealthy you are; there’s nothing you can do.  Joe Biden found that out first hand, as he was stuck on Air Force One and had to change his travel plans as D.C. gets pummeled with up to 10 inches of snow.

The Federal government is shut down on Monday, and schools throughout the D.C. area are closed.

Biden had to sit on his plane for 30 minutes as airport personnel attempted to bring the stairlift to the door of his aircraft. He finally walked down the stairs, holding on tightly to the handrail to brace himself.  Secret Service agents broke protocol by walking behind Biden, making sure the 79-year old didn’t slip and fall and break a hip.

Once Biden got to his car, his motorcade had to carefully drive about 20 mph to the White House.  Usually, they go over 60 mph on the journey, which took over an hour on Monday.
