Will Smith waited 30 years to win an Oscar, but it might be taken from him in three days.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Board of Governors – the people who put on the Academy Awards – is set to meet Wednesday night to talk about what to do with the mess Will Smith created by slapping Chris Rock.

One option is to suspend him from the Academy and yank the Oscar he won for Best Actor Sunday. If that happened, the former Fresh Prince would join a pretty small list of disgraced Academy members, including Harvey Weinstein and Bill Cosby.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the board always meets after the Oscars to talk about it, but his meeting is much sooner than usual, and it’s all because of Smith’s slap.

Variety Magazine reported that it’s doubtful Will has to give his trophy back, but he’ll get some sort of slap on the wrist, which would be fitting.

Smith was really on a roll Sunday night, not content with just looking foolish for his physical attack on a comedian doing his job; he then verbally accosted Rock, too, screaming, “keep my wife’s name out of your f***ing mouth.”

Classy.

Smith had a revelation on Monday about violence, saying in an Instagram apology to Rock that “violence in all forms is poisonous and destructive.”

Even worse than that, for an egomaniacal actor – it could cost him the biggest acting trophy he’s ever won.
