Will Tom Brady return for another NFL season at the age of 45? Physically, there’s no reason he couldn’t or shouldn’t.  At 44, he led the NFL in completions, attempts, passing yards, and touchdown passes.

At the age of 44!

After his Tampa Bay Bucs lost to the Rams on Sunday, Brady would not commit to coming back for another season.

Was he too disappointed to discuss such a serious issue as his future in the NFL?  Possibly, but the decision to keep playing sounds like it will not be his alone, and the person helping make that decision is a world-class brand of her own.

His wife Giselle Bundchen.

Brady admitted last fall that retirement talk and the point that he will permanently give up the sport he loves and has dominated for two decades is a very complex issue in his house.

On the one hand, you could make the argument that he’s playing as well as he has his entire career, plus the Bucs will have the tools if they stay healthy to contend for a Super Bowl again in 2022.

On the other hand, he has a family.  And his career has been pretty all-encapsulating.  And throw in the added complexities that his wife has a pretty successful career that’s been essentially put on hold for a while.

“I think my wife has, you know, held down the house for a long time now, and I think there’s things that she wants to accomplish. You know, she hasn’t worked as much in the last 10, 12 years just raising our family and kind of committing to being in a life in Boston and then moving to Florida.”

Brady has described the perfect way to walk away from the game is after winning another Super Bowl.

Hopefully, for NFL fans’ sake, he will have one more shot at that perfect ending and give fans a whole year to say goodbye and cherish every last moment of watching him play.

Assuming his wife lets him!
