There will be a fourth-generation wrestler in the Maivai family of WWE Hall of Famers. Her name is Simone Johnson, daughter of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who has decided that she will forge her own path in the sport by not using a name connected to her uber famous pops.

Ava Raine is the new moniker the 20-year-old has decided to go with, and it doesn’t sit well with several myopic wrestling fans who believe she should be known as “The Pebble” or something connected to her dad.

Here’s a quote from one fan in a Yahoo story.

“Giving Simone Johnson, the daughter of THE ROCK, a new name is completely nonsensical. Will hold (judgment) until she debuts, but if WWE doesn’t acknowledge her dad is The Rock that’s ridiculous.”

Will she be good? Can she live up to her father’s legacy of winning 10 WWE World Champion belts? She certainly has the genes.  Signed in 2020, she has had to hold off on her big debut because of knee injuries.

No doubt Ava Raine will have one of the most famous people in the world in her corner.  And he doesn’t care what name she goes with, and it’s probably not a bad idea to try to get out of his shadow if at all possible. Here’s what The Rock told Jimmy Fallon in May of 2020.

“It blows my mind. First of all, what an honor that my daughter wants to follow in my footsteps but more importantly. But she wants to create and blaze her own path, which is just so important.”

Oh, if you’re wondering if the Rock could join his daughter in the ring, it’s not impossible. The WWE does have mixed tag-team matches, and it would be shocking if they don’t eventually collab in one.
