If you drive through Los Angeles, you see them.  There’s no reason they should exist. They are probably a waste of money, and their level of impact is equivalent to a campaign sign for a Republican Presidential candidate stuck in someone’s front yard.

It’s a billboard for the Los Angeles Clippers. There really are some out there proclaiming the Clippers as the real team of Los Angeles. This is like saying bobsledding is more popular in Los Angeles than surfing.

Despite never winning a championship of any kind and being buried at number 8 in the NBA Western Conference this year, the Clippers can say they are No. 1 at one thing; the net worth of their owner.

Steve Ballmer is really rich.  The former CEO of Microsoft is the richest sports team owner for 2022, with a net worth of $91.4 billion. His net worth has gone up 33% for doing nothing too because of the performance of Microsoft’s stock.

People around the league chuckled when he threw down $2 billion to buy the Clippers in 2014, but Ballmer does know a good investment when he sees one, and his team is now worth $3.4 billion.

Joining Ballmer in the top 5 of richest owners are Mukesh Ambani (Mumbai Indians), Francois Pinault (State Resnais FC), Dietrich Mateschitz (New York Red Bulls), and Dan Gilbert (Cleveland Cavaliers).

Money can’t buy you love or NBA championships.  Well, it did for Dan Gilbert, but the Clippers are another story.
