New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s indoor dining ban has hit Holmes. Katie Holmes. The actress’ boyfriend, Emilio Vitolo Jr., is a chef at Emilio’s Ballato in Manhattan and had some disparaging comments for the state’s top politician via Instagram.
His Instagram Stories video, published Wednesday night, tags Cuomo and shows the outside of his restaurant with snow falling, accompanied by the words, “We all going to be out of business you f*** face. Only place you’re going to be able to get food is McDonald’s or Taco Bell.” In a separate quote, he says, “Can’t f***ing catch a break.”
Adding to the coronavirus woes already hampering restaurants is the winter storm bearing down on the East Coast. On Wednesday, outdoor dining was suspended until further notice. Earlier in the week, the rapid rise in COVID-19 infections caused indoor dining to be shut down at least through Dec. 28 in New York City.
Holmes, who turns 42 on Friday, reportedly has been dating Vitolo Jr. for a few months.
Emilio’s Ballato has drawn celebrities, including former President Barack Obama, actors Tom Hanks and Bradley Cooper, as well as performers Justin Bieber and Rihanna.
Holmes, who rose to fame during her six seasons on Dawson’s Creek (1998-2003), met Tom Cruise during casting for “Mission Impossible III” in 2005. The two were married for five years and have a daughter, Suri, who’s now 14.
It was Holmes who caused Cruise’s memorable appearance on “Oprah” when he jumped on the set’s couch to pledge his love for Holmes. “I’m in love. I’m in love … “ He added, “I wanted to meet this person and I met her and she’s extraordinary.”
