Patrick Mahomes baby daughter is two days old. It’s certainly not too early to be thinking about college.

Texas Tech University, the alma mater of Mahomes, wanted to take that burden off the star quarterback and his fiancé Brittany Matthews, so they offered baby daughter Sterling Mahomes a national letter of intent Monday.

What does that mean for the family? Baby Sterling will have a scholarship to play soccer waiting for her in 18-plus years, barring unforeseen circumstances.  You know, like she wants to go to another school or something.

The letter is official, and signed by athletic director Kirby Hocutt.

It’s a smart move for the Red Raiders, since her daddy is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, and her mom even played college soccer at the University of Texas at Tyler.

Patrick Mahomes played three seasons for Texas Tech before coming out early to be drafted in the first round of the 2017 draft by the Kansas City Chiefs.

By the way, not having to pay for college can take a load off Sterling’s superstar father, who will have to find a way to make ends meet with his 10 year, $503 million contract.

Sports talent is in the family. Little baby Sterling’s grandfather, Pat Sr. was a Major League Baseball pitcher.

And there’s even more good news for Sterling.  Her mom Brittany is the co-owner of the NWSL team in Kansas City, so the skids are greased for a professional soccer career too.
