President Donald Trump returned to the White House on Monday, and Democratic leaders might be wishing he had stayed a few more days at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. The president seems focused on a couple things as he’s returned to work: tweeting, and having the Senate concentrate on approving his U.S. Supreme Court nominee. On Tuesday, Trump instructed Republican senators to put a pause on negotiations for a coronavirus stimulus package until after the election, instructing Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) to focus “full-time on getting his nominee to fill the vacant seat on the U.S. Supreme Court.”

Trump said on — you guessed it — Twitter that after the election the talks could resume on the stimulus package to support small businesses and hardworking Americans.

He also accused House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) of pushing for a $2.4 trillion package that would act as a bailout to “poorly run, high crime, Democrat States.”

“Nancy Pelosi is asking for $2.4 Trillion Dollars to bailout poorly run, high crime, Democrat States, money that is in no way related to COVID-19,” Trump wrote in a series of tweets. “We made a very generous offer of $1.6 Trillion Dollars and, as usual, she is not negotiating in good faith. I am rejecting their request, and looking to the future of our Country.

“I have instructed my representatives to stop negotiating until after the election when, immediately after I win, we will pass a major Stimulus Bill that focuses on hardworking Americans and Small Business.”
