Well, for fans of “Fresh Prince of Bel Air,” Will Smith was obviously from West Philadelphia, born and raised because you’ve heard it in the opening song for the NBC hit comedy back in the early 1990s. Maybe that tough upbringing helped explain his borderline unhinged behavior at the Oscars Sunday night when he strolled to the stage to smack presenter Chris Rock in the face for making a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.

Two big questions seemed to be on the mind of everyone who saw or heard about it, and one of those questions has an answer.  Will Chris Rock file assault and battery charges against his fellow Hollywood star?  It appears to be a hard no.  At least for now.  LAPD was inside the theater for the show and approached Rock’s team about it, but word is they refused.

Now the other big question; was it staged?  Hard to believe Rock would agree to bring such a low-class moment to the biggest night for Hollywood, and who wants to get smacked in the face in front of tens of millions of people?

If you haven’t heard the details, Rock made a joke about Pinkett-Smith’s appearance with her shaved head, resulting from the alopecia she suffers from.  Smith didn’t take it well.

Adding to the bizarre nature of the evening was the fact that Smith won an Oscar for best actor, so if it was staged, he’s got the acting chops to pull it off.
