I’m not sure if this hotel will accept American Express points, but this one might be worth paying cash for if you’re into next-level extreme travel.

It looks like the first space hotel could be turning on its vacancy sign in six years or so.

A cruise ship style hotel, floating above the atmosphere of the earth has been on the drawing boards of a company called the Gateway Foundation for the past two years.

This futuristic, floating bed and breakfast would have 24 modules connected by elevator shafts, shaped like a wheel.  It would orbit in space as you slept there.

It’s actually something that is picking up steam, and it has a new name too; Voyager Station.  Sounds like something Captain Spock would be a regular at.

The head of the Gateway Foundation is a man named John Blincow, and he also has a construction company called Orbital Assembly Corporation, and that’s who will do the construction.

A story on CNN Travel quoted Blincow saying they’ve had some COVID delays, but construction should begin in 2026 and it could be open for business in 2027.

“We’re trying to make the public realize that this golden age of space travel is just around the corner. It’s coming. It’s coming fast,” Blincow said.

The only downside is room service would probably take a couple weeks. Minimum.
