It seems that the F—ing residents have spoken clearly and want to get their F—ing name cast into the Austrian town’s F—ing past.

The community has decided to change its name from, well, the actual F-word to “Fugging.”

Residents acted mainly because of the increasing amount of unwarranted attention, including the many English-language travel jokes and having their village sign stolen repeatedly.

The community of about 100 people is located near the Austrian Alps, within the municipality of Tarsdorf.

“I am confirming that it has in fact been decided by the local council,” Tarsdorf Mayor Andrea Holzner told Reuters about the name change. “I will not say any more about it.”

Social media has expedited the visibility, of course, with Pornhub anchoring a promotion targeting residents of sexually suggestive geographic names for towns, communities and cities, including Holzner’s village.

The F—ing community dates to at least A.D. 1070 and is named for a man named Focko from the sixth century, according to the AFP reports.

As of Jan. 1, 2021, the village of 100 residents near the German border will see the new name take effect.

“I really don’t want to say anything more – we’ve had enough media frenzy about this in the past,” Holzner said.

English-speaking tourists have increasingly flocked to F—king for a photo op next to an entrance sign bearing the village’s name, taking selfies, OE24 reported.

Of course, there are certain to be those who think there’s no Fugging way the name’s adjustment will keep away the curious tourists of today.
