There is a growing chorus in Washington to use the 25th Amendment for the immediate removal of President Trump from office.  House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is the latest Democrat to call for it Thursday, joining Senator Chuck Shumer and others. They are urging Vice President Mike Pence and the Cabinet to move forward on getting Trump out.

One day after her office was broken into by a mob of protesters at the Capitol, Pelosi called Trump “a very dangerous person” who committed an “act of sedition.”

Even if Pence refuses to take action with the 25th Amendment, Pelosi and company are already thinking about Plan B; another impeachment. “The president has committed an unspeakable assault on our nation and our people,” Pelosi said Thursday.  “By inciting sedition as he did yesterday, he must be removed from office,” Pelosi said. “While it’s only 13 days left, any day can be a horror show for America.”

Also on Thursday, Shumer said that he and Pelosi had tried but were unsuccessful in reaching Pence to discuss exercising the 25th Amendment. “If the vice president and the Cabinet won’t invoke the 25th [Amendment], Congress should come back in session immediately and impeach the president,” Shumer said in New York City. ”Oh, and Speaker Pelosi and I tried to call the vice president this morning to tell him to do this. They kept us on hold for 25 minutes and then said the vice president wouldn’t come on the phone — so we are making this call public.”
