When you really want to get away, a company called Orbital Assembly Corporation said they might be able to accommodate you very soon.  They have designed two new space tourism accommodations, and the one named Pioneer could be orbiting Earth by 2025.

According to a story in People, this hotel will be very exclusive, hosting just 28 people. By 2027, their concept called Voyager could darn near host a convention, with up to 400 people being able to stay in this hotel comfortably.

As for why Orbital Assembly has gotten into the space hotel business, here’s what CEO Tim Alatorre told CNN.

“The goal has always been to make it possible for large amounts of people to live, work and thrive in space.”

As you can imagine, these will be a little more scientifically advanced than your typical Doubletree or Hyatt Place. They will be designed in the shape of a wheel, and artificial gravity will allow the guests to move around without floating off to Venus.  By the way, artificial gravity is a pretty cool new concept, considering the space station doesn’t even have it yet.

Visitors will feel some weightlessness, but they can have a cup of tea without it floating out of the mug and they will not have to be strapped down in their bed in order to sleep. Guests will be able to shower, eat, and drink sitting down in areas that have artificial gravity.

As for accommodations, it will be similar to a 4-star hotel on Earth.  And the cost will be much more affordable than paying for a rocket ride on Jeff Bezos’ spaceship, so the company is expecting serious demand when they open its doors.
