A year ago Gap brought in Kanye West’s Yeezy brand into their fold and his first reactions for the retailer are getting ready to drop.

Up first in the collaboration is a bright blue puffy round jacket that fans can start pre-ordering now for delivery this fall.  The cost is $200, and the unique style of the jacket has no zippers, buttons, snaps or fasteners of any kind in the front. On the inside is the new Yeezy Gap logo tag.

There is huge anticipation for this clothing line, which was announced last June. Gap and Yeezy will be together for at least 10-years, and the partnership according to a press release will include “modern, elevated basics for men, women and kids at accessible price points.”

Translation: Not as expensive and hard to find as a pair of Yeezy kicks!

It’s been kind of a rough road to get to this point for Gap and West, partly because of the pandemic and also because of the legal battle West was having with Walmart over the use of his logo.

For as successful as West has been as a rapper and cultural icon, he’s building the bulk of his financial fortune through his apparel business.  Is he a billionaire? Maybe, as his net worth has been estimated to be as high as $6.6 billion, which might be a bit of a stretch.

Regardless, the lines will be long, demand will be high, and the cash registers will be ringing once his full line starts showing up inside Gap stores later in 2021.
