A Chinese academic with links to the Communist Party laid out a pretty clear picture of just how cozy China views its relationship with Joe Biden. Di Dongsheng, the associated dean of the School of International Relations at Renmin University, also discussed how rough Donald Trump was on China because Wall Street was unable to “control” Trump.

In a recorded lecture from Nov. 28, Di said, “We know that the Trump administration is in a trade war with us, so why can’t we fix the Trump administration? Why did China and the U.S. used to be able to settle all kinds of issues between 1992 and 2016?” Di asked, going on to answer his own question. “I’m going to throw out something maybe a little bit explosive here. It’s just because we have people at the top. We have our old friends who are at the top of America’s core inner circle of power and influence,” Di said.

The top Chinese political scientist also added that “For the past 30 years, 40 years, we have been utilizing the core power of the United States.”

As for the reference to Wall Street and Trump, Di said, “During the US-China trade war, [Wall Street] tried to help, and I know that my friends on the U.S. side told me that they tried to help, but they couldn’t do much. But now we’re seeing Biden was elected, the traditional elite, the political elite, the establishment, they’re very close to Wall Street.”

As for Biden’s son, Hunter, Di went there as well, saying “You all heard that Trump said Biden’s son has securities companies all over the world. But who helped Biden’s son build his global companies? ‘There are indeed buy-and-sell transactions involved in here, so I think at this particular time, [with Biden winning the election], it is of strategic and tactical value for us to show goodwill to him.”

Fox News Anchor Tucker Carlson shared the clip on his show Monday night. The video was initially shared on Chinese social media site Weibo but has since been removed, according to Fox News.
