Imagine you are the developers of what are set to become the tallest structures on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, already holding in your hand the permits to build a 52-story residential tower with some of the sickest views of Central Park and all of Manhattan.

Then a Supreme Court judge steps in and says you have to get rid of the top 20 floors because the permits should never have been issued.

That was the situation facing the owners of 200 Amsterdam, until the ruling was overturned, paving the way for them to make available a couple $40 million penthouse units might convince a billionaire or two to NOT leave the Big Apple…

The opulent and spectacular Penthouse Collection at 200 Amsterdam is going to make some realtors very happy, because they’re looking at some nice commissions.

There are a series of eight full-floor units ranging up to almost 5,000 square feet, which are essentially the opening act to the gems on top of the building; 6,500 square-foot duplexes going for $40 million.

The units feature four bedrooms, four bathrooms, and floor-to-celing windows around the great room that provide a very formidable view of Gotham.

Getting from one floor to the next is a breeze, you can do it with your private elevator or walk on the oak and glass staircase.

The kitchens are tricked out with top shelf appliances, including Wolf and Miele, along with Calcatta marble covering the island, and the bathrooms decked out in Bardiglio marble.

Will these two incredibly glam units help NYC get back on its feet after a rough past 14 months?  Not sure, but I do know whoever ends up scooping up these luxe pads are going to have a great view watching the city come back to life.
