We’ve been hearing about the possibility for a couple of weeks now, and as Jan. 20 draws closer, it is sounding more and more like President Trump is planning on throwing an inauguration day rally.

A report from Axios claims that Trump has big plans for his White House departure. The day will begin with a final flight from Washington D.C. to Florida on Air Force One. Once in Florida, Trump plans to host a rally that will oppose Joe Biden’s inauguration.

It has been reported for weeks that Trump may use the Florida rally to announce his 2024 bid for the White House.

Trump skipping out on the swearing-in ceremony while also holding an opposing rally could create an interesting dynamic. Axios’ Alayna Treene wrote, “The Trump talk could create a split-screen moment: the outgoing president addressing a roaring crowd in an airport hangar while the incoming leader is sworn in before a socially distanced audience outside the Capitol.”

The inauguration ceremony on Jan. 20 will most likely look a lot different than previous ceremonies as social distancing and precautions set in place by the coronavirus pandemic will definitely play a role in the event.

It’s also interesting to look at the dynamic Trump would create in announcing his bid for 2024 on Biden’s inauguration day. By declaring his run for 2024 so early, Trump would effectively be setting himself up to criticize Biden’s every move over the next four years.
