In the world of iconic legends, Michael Jordan and Frank Sinatra are in the Top 10 of any list.

They are undisputed pop culture royalty, one-of-a-kind ballers that amazingly have one thing in common with each other that seems rather bizarre and hard to fathom…

One of their primary houses they lived in just can’t sell.

For Frank, it’s his 7.5 acre compound in the desert of Palm Springs. A midcentury mountain retreat looking down on Palm Desert that was once described as a “James Bond lair-like compound.”

There’s plenty of room, with five bedrooms and sex bedrooms in the main house, plus another three bedroom guest house and a pool house with one bedroom, two bathrooms and his and hers saunas.

Obviously the Chairman of the Board has been dead since 1998, and his estate has been actively trying to ditch the property but has been unsuccessful for more than 15 years.

The first time it hit the market was way back in 2007, and after striking out and not finding a buyer it was taken off the market. Then put back on in every year from 2008 – 2020 with the exception of 20012, 2014, and 2019.

Still, no buyers for the estate known as “Villa Maggio.”

Frank purchased the property in 1967 and named it after the character he played in “From Here  to Eternity.”

It was his desert getaway, and to say it was secluded would be like saying there’s a bar in the house. Part of the problem according to real estate professionals in the Coachella Valley is the house is too secluded, often times referred to as being “in the middle of nowhere.”

But still, Frank lived here. And the price is not bad, just $4.25 million for the entirety of Frank’s former playground.

Michael Jordan can feel Frank’s pain, because his over-the-top monstrosity in suburban Chicago has been sitting on the market for nine years.

This one is going to need a either a very special buyer or a billionaire fan boy of Air Jordan who just wants to sleep in the same room the NBA’s greatest player did during his reign in the 1990’s.

Located on seven-acres, roughly the same size plot of land as Sinatra’s, MJ’s crib has 56,000 square feet of livable space the main house.

100% custom with Michael’s touches from floor to ceiling, the house features nine bedrooms, 15 bathrooms and a 14-car garage.

While bidding wars are being waged on 1,400 square foot ramblers in San Antonio and 30,000 square foot estates in Fort Lauderdale, the opposite effect is happening with Michael’s old house.

The listing price just continues to drop. It opened at $29 million in 2012, and now is back on the market for just over half of that; a few bucks under $15 million.

$15 million for the house Michael lived in when he played for the Bulls?  Are you kidding me? He has game worn jockstraps that are auctioned off for twice that much every other week.

I’m sure Michael would like to forget about the fact he can’t sell this albatross, but he’s reminded it’s sitting vacant every year courtesy of the annual $1.3 million property tax bill from the State of Illinois.
