Elon Musk currently holds the title of “world’s richest person,” but he thinks he has some competition nobody, including Forbes Magazine, is thinking about.

Vladimir Putin.

Musk hasn’t looked back after passing Jeff Bezos, piling up billions as CEO of Tesla, SpaceX, and The Boring Company. Still, recently, he was asked this question in an interview by the CEO of Insider, Mathias Sopfner.

“How do you feel, being at a net worth of $260 billion roughly – perceived as the richest person on earth?

Musk followed with this response. “I do think that Putin is significantly richer than me.”

Hmm, interesting comment.  Suppose you’re wondering if being President of Russia pays that well; it doesn’t.  Back in 2017, according to Insider, financier Bill Browder testified that he thinks Putin “has accumulated $200 billion of ill-gotten gains.”

It’s been a cottage industry trying to track his wealth.  Many people who have researched this issue believe Putin has been connected to a $1.4 billion palace on the Black Sea, a $4 million Monaco apartment, and possibly one of the most spectacular mega-yachts in the world.
