He’s the CEO of three companies simultaneously, the richest person in the world, and a rock star business icon with very big and visionary ideas.  And Elon Musk came up with a new one on Monday.  He informed his 77.7 million Twitter followers that his next bold idea was to challenge Russian President Vladimir Putin to “single combat” (a fight), and he proposed that the winner decides the fate of Ukraine.

He wrote Putin’s name in Russian and used Ukrainian spelling for Ukraine.

“I hereby challenge Владимир Путин to single combat,” Musk wrote, using Putin’s Russian name.  Stakes are Україна”

He followed that with the question “Do you agree to this fight?”

What’s interesting is what happened next. The Russian space agency called Roscosmos replied to Musk’s challenge.

“You, little devil, are still young. Compete with me weakling; It would only be a waste of time. Overtake my brother first.”

Fox News interpreted that reaction as a reference to a fairytale from a Russian poet.

You would think Mykhailo Fedorov, the Ukrainian Vice Prime Minister would have more important things to do than getting involved, but he also chimed in. He used a graphic showing Putin inside a rockets the caption “Sent Putin to Jupiter.”

On a more serious note, talks are going on Monday involving Russian and Ukrainian leaders, the fourth session of discussions aimed at trying to end the conflict.
