On Thursday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi fired a bomb at the White House with comments about invoking the 25th Amendment and removing President Donald Trump from office. Today it was the White House swinging back, with zingers aimed at Pelosi and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.
President Trump responded to Pelosi’s comments about considering legislation on how to remove a president from office by saying he is not her target, it’s actually Joe Biden.
“Crazy Nancy Pelosi is looking at the 25th Amendment in order to replace Joe Biden with Kamala Harris. The Dems want that to happen fast because Sleepy Joe is out of it!!!” Trump tweeted Friday morning.
White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany also joined in on Twitter: “The only one who needs the 25th Amendment is Nancy Pelosi herself. “Good Morning, Sunday Morning,” she bizarrely blurts out after suggesting impeaching President @realDonaldTrump for exercising his Art. II, Sec. II power! Stop projecting, Nancy!”
The “Good Morning, Sunday Morning” was in reference to a strange moment in a television interview when Pelosi responded to a question about potentially impeaching Trump by saying “Good morning, Sunday morning.”
Pelosi spent Friday morning announcing legislation to create a commission that would allow Congress to oust a president from office, using the 25th Amendment, though suggesting it would take effect after Trump leaves office. “This is not about President Trump,” Pelosi said. “He will face the judgment of the voters. But he shows the need for us to create a process for future presidents.”
It’s hard to fathom now, but in 2007, when Nancy Pelosi became speaker of the house, Donald Trump sent her a congratulatory card that said “You’re the best.”
