Nowadays, if there’s one line you don’t cross in Washington D.C., it’s that you don’t dare be cordial to someone across the aisle. Yet, Senate Judiciary Committee ranking Democrat Sen. Dianne Feinstein wasn’t just cordial, she went as far as to actually pay Republican Committee Chairman Sen. Lindsey Graham a compliment on Thursday. The words that led many to believe the two could possibly be friends has at least one liberal group calling for her to step down from her Judiciary role.

A left-wing organization known as Demand Justice tweeted out a video questioning Feinstein’s ability to lead the Democrats. “We’re calling on her to step down as the leader of the Democrats on the Judiciary Committee.”

The comments that launched the calls for Feinstein to step down came when she thanked Graham for leading the committee hearings for Judge Amy Coney Barrett. “I just want to thank you, this has been one of the best set of hearings that I’ve participated in and I want to thank you for your fairness and the opportunity of going back and forth,” Feinstein said.

Demand Justice is led by Brian Fallon, the former press secretary for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign. He also expressed his displeasure with Feinstein. “Keeping Feinstein as the top democrat on Judiciary Committee is a monument to our side’s weakness on the fight for the courts,” he remarked.

Demand Justice is one of the groups pushing for the Democrats to increase the number of Supreme Court justices by court packing as a means to adding more judges whose philosophies they agree with.
