As Election Night crept into Thursday and beyond, celebrities shared their angst on social media and repeated a common mantra from 2016 – they’re moving if Trump wins.
Following the 2016 election, celebrities from Snoop Dogg to Chelsea Handler said they would move. (They didn’t.)
After the election, Snoop posted a picture of Toronto and wrote, “My new home. @champagnepapi (Drake) I need the hookup on some property… I’m going to the. 6ix. [sic].”
And of course Cher was over the top, tweeting, “IF HE WERE TO BE ELECTED, IM MOVING TO JUPITER.”
She’s still on Earth today.
Prior to this year’s vote, artists such as Bruce Springsteen, John Legend, Chrissy Teigen, Tommy Lee and Ricky Martin made similar references. We’ll see what they do if Trump wins reelection.
As the vote count continued on Thursday, celeb backers of Joe Biden began to breathe a little easier than they were the day before.
On Wednesday, with early projections putting Trump ahead in several battleground states, many took to social media to express their concern.
Cardi B smoked three cigarettes at once, while Sharon Stone was more dramatic, sharing a video of herself crying at the incoming results.
“Am I the only one who is watching election returns and just crying?” she said to her 2.3 million Instagram followers.
Emmy Rossum was more reserved in a gray-blue hoodie as she watched the returns. “Anyone else feel like they might throw up?” she wrote.
After Trump began ranting about disappearing ballots, Kerry Washington wrote, “Mail in ballots are not a ‘surprise’ they’re ballots. They’re votes. And they need to be counted.”
Khloe Kardashian wrote about having trouble sleeping with “anxiety on a 10 10 10.”
Other celebrities hitting Twitter included Mark Ruffalo, Josh Gad, Cyndi Lauper, Patricia Arquette, James Corden and Shonda Rhimes.
No matter who ends up winning the battle for the White House, a few less obnoxious, self-righteous celebrities living in the U.S. would not be a horrible thing, so no problem if a few keep their promise, Only problem for them is there hasn’t been a huge demand of Patricia Arquette or Josh Gad content from the fine citizens of Canada.
