It takes a lot of pressure to create a ring with the most diamonds in the world … and it appears a jeweler in India has done it.

Harshit Bansal, founder of Renani Jewels, set the record by designing a diamond ring with a whopping 12,638 diamonds in the setting. It has a circular band with an ornate floral design. In a word, you could describe it as “gaudy.”

The ring weighs 5.8 ounces, just a little under a half a pound, and it pretty much covers up all the fingers.

A diamond ring this weighty deserves a name. It’s been officially dubbed “Marigold,” which translates to “The Ring of Prosperity.” According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the nearly 13,000 diamonds add up to 38.08 carats.

It appears size matters in India, where the previous record for number of diamonds in a ring was set. That ring had a mere 7,801 diamonds.

The designer of the new diamond heavyweight says seeing that ring back in 2018 inspired him to break the diamond-studded record. It took his company two years to complete the monstrosity now known as the Marigold.

No word on if the jeweler has a buyer for the ring. But if diamonds truly are a girl’s best friend, whoever buys this baby is gong to be very, very popular.
