Blue Ivy Carter was born into Grammy royalty. Her dad, Jay-Z, is hip-hop’s “King.” Her mom, Beyonce, is the undisputed “Queen” (of just about everything). Now, their little princess can rightfully take her place on the family throne after nabbing her first Grammy nomination, at the ripe old age of 8.

Blue Ivy is one of the youngest Grammy nominees in history. She was added to the nominees for best music video for her mother’s “Brown Skin Girl.” She wasn’t listed when the nominations were first announced on Nov. 23, but it’s not uncommon for adjustments to be made in the weeks following the announcement.f She sings the lyrics, “I love everything about you, from your nappy curls to every single curve.” Ivy Carter gives a vocal performance that opens and closes the song.

The talented youngster already won an NAACP Image Award for outstanding duo, group or collaboration for “Brown Skin Girl” and a Soul Train Award for video of the year.

By the way, this year Jay-Z tied with Quincy Jones as the most-nominated person in Grammy history, with 80 nods. Beyoncé tied with Paul McCartney as the runner-up, with 79 nods. So, if mom, dad and Blue Ivy all take home Grammy trophy’s this year, it makes you wonder how big the mantle is in their mansion.

Blue Ivy will turn 9 on Jan. 7, which is 24 days before the 63rd-Annual Grammy Awards.
