Say this about President Biden so far in his Presidency that is less than three months old. He has some very bold plans and vision, and he’s not afraid to go big.

Last week he unveiled a $2.1 trillion dollar tax plan that is supposed to go primarily towards infrastructure improvements in the U.S.  It will be the first tax hike in 28 years.

On Thursday, Biden is expect to take his first actions on gun control, with the immediate plan to tighten the restrictions on what are called “ghost guns” and pistol stabilizing braces, which are used to improve accuracy.

Keep in mind that Biden talked about making sweeping changes and aggressive moves when it came to gun control, and this is just the first part of what he may eventually try to get through Congress.  The next steps if and when this passes would be banning assault weapons and putting universal background checks in place.

Spurring Biden on has the been the recent surge in mass shootings.  After the incident in Colorado in March, Biden said “I don’t need to wait another minute, let alone an hour, to take common sense steps that will save lives in the future.”

The specifics of what Biden will take according to reports include directing the Department of Justice to implement a process in the next 30 days of retiring buyers of ghost guns to undergo background checks.

Within 60 days, he wants to have regulation in place on concealed assault-style firearms.

Last week over 100 democratic lawmakers wrote to Biden, urging him to take action the concealed assault-style weapons. It was a weapon like that which was used in the mass shooting in Colorado that killed 10 people.

The announcement Biden will make Thursday will come in the midst of a year that is seeing  huge gun sale numbers around the country.
