Joe Biden is facing his first foreign crisis, and the eyes of the world are watching to see how the 78-year old President handles it.

Afghanistan is in shambles after Biden ordered the withdrawal of all U.S. troops, and the Taliban is ruthlessly taking over the country.

Former CIA director David Patreaus called the situation in Afghanistan “disastrous” and “catastrophic” according to a Fox News report.  Here’s one of the quotes Patreaus shared on the Rita Crosby Show.

“This is an enormous national security set back and it is on the verge of getting much worse unless we decide to take really significant action.”

The Taliban controls the second, third and fourth largest cities in Afghanistan now, and they are closing in on Kabul, the nation’s largest city.

According to reports, the Taliban is beheading civilians, forcing marriages, and potentially committing other war crimes as they take control from the government the U.S. military was supporting.

5,000 troops have been given their marching orders to help with the withdrawal of Americans stuck in Afghanistan, many of them have who have been working in the U.S. embassy there.

Included in that rescue effort are 1,000 paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division’s alert brigade.

The fear is the city of Kabul could and will fall to the Taliban any day, which puts thousands of lives of Afghani civilians who have been allies of the U.S. in serious jeopardy.
