While President Donald Trump pursues litigations on the election, Fox News learned that the president-elect’s team is considering taking a legal avenue against the Trump administration if the president continues his refusal to cooperate with the traditional transition process.
A transition official told Fox News that Trump is not following the law and that it is costing the Biden team $6 million in federal funding, security clearances, meetings with intelligence officials, State Department access to talk to foreign leaders, classified information and salary funds.
The official also expressed concern that national security could be compromised. The 2000 transfer delays to George W. Bush hurt his ability to appoint key national security personnel and put the U.S. at greater risk before 9/11, according to the 9/11 Commission Report.
The transition can begin once the General Service Administration, led by a Trump appointee, recognizes the election win. Trump is challenging the results in several states, citing voter fraud.
“We believe that the time has come for the GSA administrator to promptly ascertain Joe Biden and Kamala Harris as president-elect and vice president-elect,” an unidentified Biden transition official said in briefing reporters Monday night.
The men are living in different political planes of the same country. On Monday, Trump tweeted that he won Georgia, fired Defense Secretary Mark Esper and his White House press secretary, Kayleigh McEnany, said, “This election is not over, far from it.”
Meanwhile, Biden held a press conference against an “Office of the President Elect” backdrop and named a coronavirus task force Monday.
