Besides playing in Charlotte, what do NBA rookie LaMelo Ball and New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton have in common? They can now both claim to have lived in the same building as Michael Jordan.

Following his release from the Carolina Panthers this past summer, Cam Newton listed his condo in uptown Charlotte for sale. And now, six months later, he has a baller – or make that a buyer. Well, actually it’s both. The former No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft is handing the keys over to the third overall pick from the most recent NBA Draft.

The Charlotte Hornets’ third overall pick, LaMelo Ball, purchased the condo, which was originally listed for $3 million. The 3,400-square-foot residence has three bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms and occupies one of the top floors of “The Trust,” an upscale building in downtown Charlotte. Jordan still owns the entire top floor of the building, which features only seven residences.

Ball’s contract this season will pay him $7.8 million as part of a four-year deal worth more than $33 million. He also reportedly signed a deal with Puma worth more than $100 million in recent months.

The property turned out to be a profitable investment for Newton, as the NFL quarterback originally purchased the condo for $1.6 million back in 2012.

Ball may love his new digs, but he also better remember that Charlotte Hornets owner Michael Jordan will be literally watching over him from the condo upstairs.
