Remember going to a sporting event and your phone either doesn’t pick up a wireless signal or grabs one that is so slow it does nothing but frustrate you for three hours?

They are about to not exist anymore.

At the Super Bowl in Los Angeles this past Sunday, Verizon equipped the whole area around SoFi Stadium with $120 million worth of 5G technology. What that meant for fans at the game was a whole new world, a completely different experience on their phone.

Fans had on-demand replays at their disposal. There were augmented reality competitions to partake in.  Celebrities could use any filter to make their selfies seem crisper for all four quarters that they didn’t pay attention to the game!

Verizon has locked up 25 of the NFL’s 30 stadiums, so 5G technology is here to stay at football games.

A story in Inc referenced how fans at SB 56 had access to the NFL Ticketholder app, which they were able to not only show their ticket and enter the game, but they could see sky-cam angles, field camera angles, and watch instant replays. On top of that, hardcore fans could see Next Gen Stats data, which breaks down the speed of players running down the field amongst other cool options.

The 5G capabilities will take gambling next level for fans inside the stadium, and the big new trend to keep your eye on at stadiums will be a cashier-less transaction for food and drinks.
